We need our investment managers to have a balanced approach and a balanced attitude . One of the main problems in the investment industry is over-specialization. Over-specialized investment mangers lose sight of the forest because they are too much an expert in certain kinds of trees. CastleMoore never loses sight of the forest.

The CSC (website: https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/courses/financial/csc.xhtml) is the standard for licensed stock brokers in Canada . If you are a mutual funds salesman (Financial Planner, Retirement Planner, etc.) you need to upgrade your license. Successful graduates of the CSC gain a basic understanding of financial or fundamental analysis. If you have other training in financial analysis, (CFA, MBA , CA , CIM) that's OK too.

Basic investment industry training does not include enough technical analysis. We would like you to have taken additional courses in technical analysis such as those offered by the Market Technicians Association, ( http://www.mta.org/eweb/DynamicPage.aspx?webcode=CSI), or the CSI ( https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/courses/risk/tac.xhtml) and to have read several books on the subject. [Contact us and we can help you with this.]

In order to be registered with the OSC as an ICPM (investment counsellor/portfolio manager) or associate ICPM, you must have certain qualifications. Refer to this website: http://www.osc.gov.on.ca/Regulation/Rulemaking/Current/Part3/rule_20000818_31-502fr.jsp

[ Contact us: we can help you with this.]

Compared to our competition, CastleMoore over-emphasizes client service. We would like you to enjoy interacting with clients: in fact, it would be good if this were the most enjoyable part of your career.

You must feel confident in explaining CastleMoore's services to a variety of investors. Once you learn to do this properly, and the prospective clients understand what we do, a very high percentage of them want to do business with us. High powered salesmanship is not required. Patience and understanding is a must. The CastleMoore method is different from what most investors are used to. Your salesmanship does not involve hard selling some investment product or service: it's about educating investors in a different way of conducting their investment business.

Good investment analysts seldom make good salesmen. Good salesmen seldom make good analysts. And good client service agents are a whole separate skill set. At CastleMoore we have a well organized marketing and sales program designed to introduce our methodology to dissatisfied investors. Your sales skills will be used in the context of this program. We have a disciplined investment methodology. We establish sound back tested investment techniques and use them in a disciplined manner for long periods of time. Your creativity in investment management comes from your ability to examine objective investment models, NOT from your ability to "read the market" or "interpret the data."

The hallmark of CastleMoore is our discipline and accountability. We use proven methods to buy securities on behalf of our clients and proven methods to sell securities on behalf of our clients. The key words here are "buy and sell"... not just "buy." If you have developed a method and can demonstrate that it really does work, we want to hear from you. But remember, "Buy AND Sell," not just "Buy."

Selling limits loss. Limiting loss is very important at CastleMoore.

Selling is the investment manager's way of admitting she/he was wrong. Selling is CastleMoore's way of protecting clients from managers with too much pride in their own opinion.

We encourage certain candidates to apply to the competition:

  • Super salesmen.
  • Specialists in only one sector of investing.
  • "Rugged Individualists" (as opposed to "team players.")
  • Analysts who take great pride in their own opinions.
